Information Package for Residents & Families
Family Care Conferences
Family Care Conferences are designed to help us focus on the resident’s quality of life, provide the opportunity for their family and/or substitute decision maker’s to communicate their input and choices. This enables an open flow of communication between the staff of the Home and the key decision makers.
Volunteers & Community Involvement
We encourage community involvement and attempt to strengthen the association between the residents and our community. Relatives and friends are encouraged to visit, and children are especially welcome, (including well mannered family pets that have been properly vaccinated, housebroken and leashed).
Efforts are regularly made to involve residents in our community, by inviting community groups to visit our Home and planning community outings. Volunteers are always needed to help organize programs and provide individual services. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact our Volunteer Director, Bev Cloutier. You may also wish to join local support groups such as the Alzheimer Society, Parkinson’s Disease Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Huntington’s Society and Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Resident/Family Information Board
For your convenience, there are a variety of pamphlets in the lobby area located on the Resident/Family Information Board.
Nursing Home Telephone Use
The Collingwood Nursing Home has two business phone lines. These lines are used for all business activities, i.e. communication with doctors, suppliers, hospital, employees. We encourage each resident to have a telephone connected into their room. However, should you need to call, please avoid calling during our busiest resident care times. It would be appreciated if calls were limited during the Home’s busiest care times, such as breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Please help us ensure that our staff are not interrupted from giving resident care.
